Ormiston SWB Academy Celebrates Brilliant GCSE Results

Students at high-performing Ormiston SWB Academy have hit the high notes in their GCSE results – with improvements across the board.

Some 61% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 in English and maths – up a huge 21 percentage points on last year’s equivalent figure. In maths, 64% managed a 4 or better (a 19 percentage point increase), and 72% got a 4 or better in English (also up 19 percentage points from 2016). Our Progress 8 score is +0.15 which is above the national average of P8 0.

Among the many students with fantastic individual results are Alex Banks and Minisha Jhumat – both achieved the highly coveted Grade 9 in Maths and English Literature. The new Grade 9 is the equivalent of a very high A*.

Principal Kerry Inscker said:

“Today’s results are brilliant – I am incredibly proud of our students for what they have achieved. The grades they are getting today are down to hard work and talent, and they fully deserve their success. I would also like to thank their supportive parents and our dedicated staff for the part they have played in today. It has been a real team effort.  We are delighted to now be part of Ormiston Academies Trust, our new sponsor – and this is a fantastic way to have started our new chapter with them.”
